Redwood Receives Bomb Threat

Redwood+Receives+Bomb+Threat

Redwood High School received a bomb threat, which was promptly followed by a schoolwide lockdown and evacuation, on the morning of September 19. Redwood principal David Sondheim sent an email to the Redwood community at 9:17 a.m. “RHS being evacuated due to bomb threat. Details will be posted soon as possible. Do not call school or come to school. Thx for your patience/cooperation,” Sondheim’s email stated.

Many Redwood students were startled at first, but their anxiety eventually simmered into boredom. “We sat on the football field for a couple hours while law enforcement searched every classroom and bag. After the whole school was evacuated they started to dismiss students individually which was very inefficient, so students started hopping the fence. Most students were nervous but after sitting outside for hours everyone just wanted to go home,” said Redwood senior Marley Edington.

No bomb was found, and at 11:22 a.m., David Yoshihara, the Tamalpais Unified High School District Superintendent, announced that all students were “safe and accounted for.” Classes were canceled for the rest of the day.
