English teacher Michael Krause received the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom award on October 9, becoming the third teacher at Tam to receive this honor. Symetra Heroes in the Classroom is run by Symetra in partnership with the National Football League and Wells Fargo.

Krause was nominated for the honor by recent graduate Lindsey Sloan, whose nomination featured 20 pages of student testimonials. “A teacher that can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning is a true teacher indeed,” one former student wrote of Krause.

As part of his award, Krause was presented with a $250 gift certificate to Office Max, two tickets to a San Francisco 49ers game, and a $1,000 check for Tamalpais High School.

“I’m very honored and very touched because this was entirely motivated by students,” Krause said.
