There are several Indian restaurants within (driving) reach during Tam’s 45-minute lunch period. Many of these restaurants serve delicious Indian food at reasonable prices. What is the best place to go for Indian food in Mill Valley?

Prabh Indian Kitchen: Located on Sunnyside Avenue downtown, Prabh is a relative newcomer to Mill Valley. It is already popular with many local Indian food lovers. Prabh serves some of the best tasting Indian food I have ever had. The naan is soft and warm, and the dishes are just spicy enough to be interesting without being overwhelming. Tam students will appreciate the $8 lunch deal that the restaurant offers. If one thing could be changed about Prabh, it would be the relatively small portion sizes.

Most Convenient for Tam student: Avatar’s Punjabi Burritos

Avatar’s Punjabi Burritos: Near the library, Avatar’s has a unique take on Indian food: your Indian food is wrapped up with naan in a burrito-like, delicious construction. Avatar’s is the most affordable out of the Indian restaurants I visited, and the portion sizes were generous. I ordered the Chicken Punjabi Burrito for eight dollars, and was delighted with the flavors and spiciness of the meal.

Spiciest: India Palace

India Palace: India Palace can sometimes be forgotten by Tam students, largely because of its unfortunate location. The restaurant is next to Redwood Highway (across from In-N-Out burger)  under the Travelodge Motel – not exactly the most attractive location for a restaurant. Furthermore, the ambiance inside can come off as dark and depressing. If one looks past these shortcomings, however, India Palace is truly a wonderful place to go for lunch. For 9 dollars, you get access to an all-you-can-eat-buffet, something not available anywhere else for Tam students. The food is delicious, and there are conceivably infinite amounts of it. My favorite dishes were the Chicken Masala and Tandoori Chicken. The restaurant is also generally quiet and relaxing, which is a nice bonus.
