Associated Student Body Officials Elected

Leadership announced the winners of the Associate Student Body (ASB) elections for next year’s student government positions on April 8 during tutorial. Junior Andy Strike was elected ASB treasurer and junior Peter Wynn, a Tam News editor, is the new ASB vice president. Junior Maddie Stoops was elected ASB president after running unopposed for the position.

Voting was held during the week of March 30 through April 4. Students were able to vote during lunch at tables set up outside of the student center.
Strike, who has been ASB treasurer for the past two years, said he hopes to use his experience to benefit next year’s senior class. “I thought I would be well suited for the position because I have been treasurer for my class for the last two years,” Strike said. “The school has money that is set aside specifically for events put on by Leadership… and I hope to use that money more effectively to create events that students really want to go to,” he said.

Wynn, as the newly elected ASB vice president, has similar goals.

“I want to continue to help build [Tam’s] school culture, to get people excited to come to school,” Wynn said. “You do that through events that people recognize and know [occur] annually, and by making things like homecoming and rallies more exciting.”

Students running for ASB positions were required to have at least a year of prior experience in Leadership. Stoops said she wishes to draw upon her past Leadership experience in order to help increase the profile of leadership officials. “Not many people really know what we do at the school,” Stoops said. “So I would love to integrate [Leadership officials] more into the daily school setting so the average student can actually name their class officers and what they’re doing for the school.”
