Spring Concert bids farewell to seniors

Spring+Concert+bids+farewell+to+seniors

The Tam High Music Program came together for their last concert of the year, the Spring Concert, on May 31. Orchestra, jazz band, advanced band, and chorus all performed in Ruby Scott gym before an audience of parents and students. “Students performed to the top of their ability and it was fun,” said music director Spiro Tsingaris.

“We work all semester for this music,” said senior Casey Thompson. “Mr. T tries to choose music that encompasses the seniors so we all have our finale… but he does it [without] ignoring the other classes.”

At the concert, the performers received awards based on the number of years they had been a part of the music program. Seniors who had been in the music program for all four years received lifetime participation medals, anyone who had been in the program for three years received Tam High music pins, and students who had participated for two years received a block “T” sticker with colors opposite to those of varsity sports letters.

The results of scholarship auditions, which had been held on the May 25, were also announced at the concert. Scholarships were awarded to many students, including seniors Hallie Brauner and Skyler McCormick, along with juniors Maddie Elias, Jack Brown, and Oriana Anguiano.

For seniors, it was not only the last concert of the year, but the last concert of their high school careers as well. “It’s a very warming experience, having played all four years of orchestra and seeing my friends with me on the stage,” said senior Mike Ma. “[The Spring Concert was] a very heartwarming experience.”
