Upcoming Fall Blood Drive

Upcoming+Fall+Blood+Drive

Tam High’s annual fall blood drive will be held this year on September 23 in the Student Center. The blood drive is organized by Tam’s student leadership program in association with the Blood Center of the Pacific.

“We have been involved with the Blood Center of the Pacific for about a decade now,” senior Trevor Guyton, who is organizing the event, said. “[That] puts a lot on my shoulders, seeing how this is the first year I will be leading [the blood drive], but this is a cause worth working hard for.”

Any Tam students who are 16 and older and meet the height and weight requirements for their age group are eligible to donate. “Just make sure to eat lots of iron,” Guyton said. “Nearly a fourth of the people signed up to donate each year get turned away due to low iron levels.”

Guyton has high hopes for the outcome of the drive. “My personal challenge to every single person at Tam High is to donate one gallon—eight pints—of blood before they graduate. Now that’s something interesting to say about yourself.”
