A Tamalpais High School assistant principal position opened up Nov. 3.
The district is currently taking applications for the position on EDJOIN, an online education job opportunity network. According to the job posting on EDJOIN, the position is full-time and will last until the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
“The Assistant Principal shall assist the Principal in providing school-wide leadership, provide leadership for delegated areas of school responsibility, supervise and evaluate certificated and classified staff, and assume district leadership roles as assigned,” states the job description from the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) linked on the application. The new assistant principal would also be responsible for Tam students with the last names N-Z.
This comes at the same time current Assistant Principal Tara Ranzy has been out of the office since late October. This open position would not replace Ranzy, but would be in addition to the current administration, according to Andrew Schroeder, one of the current Tam High assistant principals.
Schroeder said that the administration is looking for a candidate who will contribute to the administration’s vision.
“Administrators are all stakeholders and we all want to make Tam a better place,” he said. “I do think that if we were to bring somebody in almost mid-year, hopefully sooner rather than later that they would get on board with the direction that the school is going.”
The TUHSD is putting an emphasis on a background in racial equity work for possible candidates, the EDJOIN job posting stated. They are looking to have the position filled as soon as possible.
