The Tamalpais High School girls’ varsity volleyball team kicked off their home season in style Tuesday night, sweeping Windsor in three straight sets. The Hawks, who entered the match undefeated, fed off of the home crowd’s energy to secure the win.
The match was tight, with both teams trading points. However, after a few minutes, Tam scored 13 straight points to take command of the first set, eventually closing it out 25-18. The Jaguars pushed back in the second, even holding a small lead, but the Hawks’ resilience showed as they rallied behind strong defensive play to again win 25-18.
The third set was the closest, as Windsor and Tam battled point-for-point. Despite the early tension Tam surged ahead and finished the sweep with a 25-17 win.
Star player Jade Savala, wearing No. 1, stood out with a handful of acrobatic saves and well placed bumps that kept rallies alive and was the reason for Tam’s runs.
Before the game, junior Willa Cruise cited the team’s confidence and preparation: “We won our first two games, so I think we’re feeling pretty confident and looking forward to what’s ahead,” she said. Coach Ray, who has led the program for 11 years, praised the group’s resilience. “They are surprisingly tough when things go wrong,” he noted. With the home opener behind them, the Hawks look determined to keep their undefeated streak alive and defend their NCS title.
