Varsity field hockey continued its three-game winning streak Thursday with an 11-0 win over Archie Williams. The Hawks entered the game confident after last week’s victory over rival Redwood.
Sophomore goalie Sierra Duncan recorded her third shutout of the year.
Only three games into the season, Tam has already developed a strong connection. “We have really good communication, we play selflessly and we know how to play with each other,” junior Laila Hochschild said. The Hawks recently started practicing mindfulness before games. Hochschild added that rituals like that have helped them stay locked in and ready for big games.
The undefeated Hawks are also bolstered by their coaching staff. “I was really proud of all of them today because they focused on playing in an unselfish way where they were playing for each other and the team before themselves,” Coach Robin Ackley said after the win. “We helped a player who hadn’t scored yet this season get in there and get a goal, and every single person supported her and was behind her, and that’s the Tam spirit.”
The Hawks hope to carry this momentum into their next game Friday against Saint Ignatius, ranked second in the state.
