After a big win at Redwood Tuesday, the Tam girls water polo team was looking to maintain momentum Wednesday at home against Marin Academy (MA). Tam had two early goals, but MA fought right back making it 3-3 at half. Although the Tam team has a few star players, they have learned how to play unselfishly, and are always able to find open shots and passes to teammates. Early in the second half, MA went on a three goal streak, giving themself a 6-3 lead with 3:21 remaining in the third quarter. But all of a sudden, momentum changed. The Hawks were able to come back from the 3 goal deficit and tie the game up at 7-7 with key goals from Sophia Uhlhorn-Thornton and Sabine “Sabeast” Barringer. Then, with 2:42 remaining in the game, Barringer scored an emphatic goal giving the Hawks their first lead since early in the first half. They held on throughout the rest of the game, and the Hawks won 9-7. “I liked how we fought back, great shots from Sabine and Sophia led the comeback,” head coach Bob Palmer said. “Super proud of the outcome, we all played really well.” Barringer said, on her team’s victory. The Hawks move to 7-3 on the season and await their next match at home against Terra Linda next Thursday.
