Tamalpais field hockey beat Redwood Friday afternoon in a tight game. Both teams shined defensively, allowing only three total goals. Sophomore Chloe Arwin sealed it for the Hawks scoring the final goal late in the fourth quarter. Tam won 2-1.
Going into the game 9-3-1 the Redwood Giants were looking to expand on an already successful start to the season. Unfortunately for them, Tam started out strong, shutting out the Redwood offense until late in the second quarter. “It was great to see everyone come together today against Redwood,” Junior Lauren Townsend said after the game. In her second year on varsity Lauren has seen the team through ups and downs. “This year feels different, it’s so cool to be part of a team like this,” she added.
Redwood senior Lucy Jeffers scored the first goal of the game late in the first half. That goal was almost immediately followed by a goal courtesy of Tam’s senior captain Veronica Ray.
This win marks the Hawks second win against Redwood this season. This year’s field hockey team is the first to beat Redwood since 2017. They hope to begin a winning streak next week against Archie Williams, and are looking forward to a potential Redwood rematch come MCALs.
