Tamalpais boys water polo defeated Terra Linda 13-8, behind stellar performances by senior Andrew Wallace and sophomore Jasper Feldman, who scored 6 goals each. The Hawks started the game off hot, when Feldman scored back to back goals. However Terra Linda fought back, and tied the game at 3-3 to end the first quarter.
The second quarter started with a goal by Terra Linda, however the Hawks stole the momentum when junior Samir Meleis got a steal leading to a goal by Feldman. Meleis followed this up with another steal and assist to Wallace. The score was 7-5 at the half.
The Hawks were able to score five unanswered to begin the second half thanks to Wallace’s four goals. Head Coach Max Pollack said, “He had a bit of a bug, dare I say a Michael Jordan flu game-esque performance.” Referencing Michael Jordan’s game 5 of the NBA Finals, when he scored 38 points while sick. The Hawks were able to close out the third quarter with a 12-6 lead, which they were able to hold onto winning the game 13-8.
Although the Hawks had some impressive offensive performances, “The two lefties (Samir and Pasch) are the two players of the game. Their defense was superb, with great defense into great passing as well.” Coach Pollack said. Pollack preached to his team before the game just how important defense is, and they made their coach proud. The Hawks look to carry this momentum into next Tuesday’s game against Liberty.
