‘One Tap is back’: Tam football shines in first win of the season

After dropping their first four games of the season, frustration began to mount in the Red-Tailed Hawks locker room.

That pent-up frustration led to an offensive explosion, with the Hawks putting up 54 points against a struggling Justin-Siena Braves squad.

The scoring began when junior receiver Streeter Holt caught a touchdown on the opening drive, setting the tone early in the game. After a quick stop, the Hawks scored again on a wide-open Timo Ural receiving touchdown.

Throughout the game, Tam had an elite combination of interior pressure and secondary defense, led by senior duo Wyatt Leach and Sam Khouw, making sure the Braves quarterback had no time to pass — and no open receivers to pass to.

On their third drive, junior quarterback Henry Tuttle found a wide-open Octavien Green for a 46-yard touchdown in Green’s first game of the year.

At halftime, when asked how it felt to score in his first game of the season, Greene immediately responded with, “It’s One Tap (Octavien’s nickname) and I’m back.”

As the first quarter closed, there were plenty of groans from the Justin-Siena student section, as they took a 21-0 deficit through one quarter of their homecoming game.

The Hawks scored at the very beginning of the second after a ridiculous juke move from senior Cole Kramlich, and soon after, Ural took a punt return to the house — making five men miss and stiff-arming the punter to the ground — but it was called back for a phantom block in the back.

The second quarter was highlighted by a swarming Tam defensive line, with Justin-Siena continuously rushing for no gain, leading to three-and-outs. The quarter ended with a 45-yard rushing touchdown from Wyatt Leach, and students began funneling out of the Braves student section.

The second units for Tam entered the game in the second half and held up well, shutting down the Braves until a well-drawn-up quarterback draw led to a touchdown — the only score of the night for the Braves.

It brought the student section back to life, and you could feel their side of the bleachers shaking with excitement after just their third touchdown of the season.

The Hawks moved to 1-4 and will have their homecoming game this Saturday against American Canyon.
