The boys varsity football team played Justin Siena (5-1, 2-1 MCAL) at home on October 6, losing by just two points, 12-14. Tam lost in the final minutes of the game, on a two-point conversion attempt that was intercepted by Justin-Siena in the end zone. However, Tam made several mental mistakes that made the situation much more difficult than it should have been, including a false start and a delay of game penalty. Additionally, Tam wouldn’t have been in that situation in the first place if not for having an extra point blocked at the end of the first half, after senior receiver Haynes Stephens came down witha 28-yard touchdown catch from Gant Van Vliet.
Tam will face off with division foe San Rafael (1-5, 0-2 MCAL) on October 19, a game in which the Hawks are considered the favorite to win.
