The Tam boys varsity soccer team defeated Redwood 1-0 on Wednesday, October 10. This brought Tam to a record of 10-1 and protected their first place spot in MCALs. Tam attacked early with a goal in the first minute from senior Muhammed Manneh and an assist by senior captain Tesfaye Paine. “Our team stayed strong and worked hard, and we were able to get a huge win,” said Paine.
Tam knew they had a disadvantage going into this game with two starters –junior Teddy Mauze and sophomore Parker Walls– out with illnesses. Junior Max Murray and senior Aidan Hersh (also Tam News reporter) stepped in for the absent players. “Big credits to the kids who filled in the spots for the missing players for working really hard and for contributing to the team,” Paine said.
Tam is playing the very tough Terra Linda (9-1-1) this Friday, whom they lost to (2-1) back on September 14. The team that wins that game will take first place and most likely go into the playoffs with the number one seed.
