The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) announced on February 6 that Tam Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Shane Kennedy was one of 13 coaches in the state to win the 2016-2017 model coach award.
CIF defines a model coach as someone who “demonstrates and teaches the six core ethical values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.”
“I am honored to receive the award as a representative of Tamalpais High School. It is very rewarding to contribute to such a wonderful community. The players, parents and administration have been incredibly supportive [through] the years,” Kennedy said.
Junior Emlen Janetos who’s been playing with Kennedy for three years said, “All of us who play for him respect him so much because he truly cares about each and every one of us on and off the field… He is a truly a role model because he teaches us so much by just playing the game that we all enjoy.”
