Tamalpais softball came up short in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) quarterfinal showdown against Archie Williams. Tam previously split its regular season contests with the Falcons. Tam came into the game ranked 4th in the league; Archie was ranked 6th in MCAL. 

The game started like a lot of Hawks’ games this season with Ava Lee pitching a gem, she had three strikeouts to start the first inning. Lee then followed that up with a hard hit double on offense although the hawks could not bring her home. The first scoring in the game came from Archie Williams when Avery Rose singled to score Parker Conrad. Archie later scored in the top of the fourth inning when Conrad doubled. Tam did not respond until the bottom of the seventh when freshman Cedra Crews scored junior Vivian Maciejewski but it wasn’t enough, and Tam lost 2-1. 

Ava Lee racked up 12 strikeouts and 2 hits, a fitting ending for the Lehigh University commit. Evan Terry also accumulated 2 hits in the loss. When Lee was asked what the biggest contribution to the game was, she said, “We weren’t able to string our hits together. We had more hits than Archie, but we didn’t get them in timely situations.” Mel Blancarte had a good day behind the dish, she caught 2 runners stealing and was receiving the ball well. Next, the Hawks look to NCS where they earned a first round bye.
