Students interested in wilderness survival and exploration will have the opportunity to pick up outdoor navigation skills at the library this Thursday at the most recent of the Mill Valley Public Library’s First Thursday events.
In addition to learning about wilderness navigation and other aspects of survival such as emergency shelter building from rock and ice climber Mark Febbo, attendees will participate in a partner scavenger hunt through the library using only a compass.
“I hope that the skills and activities of the event motivate participants to explore natural spaces respectfully and without fear,” said Febbo. “It is also hoped that the teamwork and problem skills required of participants will promote a general sense of confidence when faced with new challenges. Most importantly, I hope everyone has fun!”
Students interested in attending the free event, which will also include food and prizes, are encouraged to register here.
