Tam and Moreau Catholic squared off in the North Coast Section Championship on Saturday, March 4th.  Before the game even started, all eyes were on MC freshman phenom Kyree Walker, one of the top freshmen in the country.  He was greeted by the Tam student section with chants like “Overrated” and was taunted for every shot he missed in warmups.

The game was neck and neck from the tip off, with neither team being able to build a significant lead.  Tam senior Jordan Jackson got off to a hot start, sinking threes and weaving his way through traffic.  Moreau Catholic had fire power of their own, coming from Senior and Division 1 recruit Damari Milstead and Walker.  MC had the lead at halftime, 38-36, and Walker had already shown that he was the real deal, with a crowd silencing breakaway dunk.

The second half was all about Milstead, Tam juniors Josh Love and Jack Duboff, and the three pointer.  Milstead took over the game, ending with 32 points.  Love never cooled off, hitting three pointer after three pointer.  Duboff and Love hit clutch three pointers to keep it a close game, but Tam simply became out matched.  MC had far too many multiple shot possessions before junior Connor Dargan checked into the game and put a temporary end to the MC offensive rebounds.

Despite Love’s valuable play in the final minutes of the game, MC was able to put the game away with free throws, coming out on top 77-71.  Tam head coach Tim Morgan was proud of his team, after putting up a strong fight despite knowing that they were the underdogs headed into the game.  “We went toe to toe with some D1 athletes,” he told his team after the game.
