According to Principal Kelly Kriss, roughly 300 Mill Valley Middle School students walked out of class on Friday afternoon to protest against ICE activity in the United States. She said that students began walking out of class at 11:34 p.m. and came back to school at around 12:20. Some protestors stayed at MVMS, while others walked to Tam.
“I think that having students understand what is going on and using their voices is important,” Kriss said.
According to NBC News, many students at other schools across the Bay Area also protested against ICE today.
Sandy García, a Tam junior who moved to Mill Valley from Guatemala last year said, “I think the anti-ICE protests are helping people understand the current state of the United States right now. The protests help us as immigrants since ICE operations are affecting our communities.” Garcia says “these protests aren’t about politics, they’re about human rights.”

Oh yes, the protests are working wherever they pop up. It’s too much news coverage, too many cameras, it’s making too many tyrants uneasy. it’s too wonderful. These are great signs, created and displayed by great kids.
My sign would read:
GO TO RED STATES – THEY WANT YOU!
Thank you,

Some middle school kids weren’t allowed to leave campus, so Mill Valley Middle School also created a safe space for kids to protest against ice there. Most kids went near the gates of the school and protested with signs they made in their own time, showing an understanding for whats going on. Even middle schoolers can make a difference, just because their kids doesn’t mean they don’t care.
