On Wednesday afternoon, both librarian Catherine “Clo” Clobucker and AP Art History teacher Laurel Shear hosted an art show in Tamalpais High School’s library. During the event, Shear was presenting the artwork made by her students and answering questions about the AP Art History class.
“I’ve been wanting to showcase more student artwork in the library this year,” Clo said. “I think the library is an important hub at school where students come to study, collaborate, but also to see any other work hung up.”
Clo mentioned that planning this event started a month ago when Shear wanted to collaborate with her.
“I loved seeing the students who showed up,” Shear said. “That was my favorite part about the show.”
Shear began teaching AP Art History at Tam two years ago. “This class is so important to me,” she said. “I’m very passionate about art and art history. In essence, this class teaches about what it means to be a human on Earth.”
“I thought it was really interesting just seeing how the students see different time periods of architecture and their interpretations of it,” Clo added. “Libraries are a primary resource for books, but I believe they can also be places for artwork, music, and sharing ideas.”
“An art show is really just a celebration of human creativity,” Shear added.
