The mock trial team took first place at the annual Marin County championship on January 25-26 and February 1 -2 at the Marin County Civic Center. The team defeated Terra Linda High School in the final round to emerge victorious for the 19th consecutive year.
“County competition was stressful, but extremely fun at the same time,” sophomore team member Reed Felder said. “We, as a team, wanted to come away from the competition with no regrets, regardless of the scores.”
Junior Russell Wirth said the victory was the result of team effort.
“I am so proud of how every single member, no matter if they had a role or not, was able to contribute and help make the team the cohesive unit that we were at this year’s competition,” Wirth said. “It truly was a team effort to get everyone ready this year, and our success reflects on the leadership of our coaches, captains and the devotion that our team members have to speaking the truth in the courtroom.”
The team’s next challenge will be the state and potentially national competitions. Mock Trial last won the state championship in 2009 and won nationals in 2005.
